What do you do if your home WiFi coverage is touch and go, your cell phone signal is poor, your audio visual and outdoor entertainment system isn’t functioning properly and you have a big summer birthday celebration out by the pool coming up? That’s easy – call Live Free AV!

This beautiful Hingham home had been recently finished, the final touches of paint were on the walls, but their system wasn’t working quite as it should be and some of the AV components were not on in the equipment rack. We got the call to see if we could lend a hand in helping resolve some of the ongoing issues.

WiFi Upgrade

After conducting a thorough survey of the network, we started off by rewiring their two home network racks – if you take a look at the picture on the left you’ll see why!

We didn’t have access to the prints for the house, so it was a bit of a challenge tracing the cables through the home, but we successfully rewired, reconfigured and upgraded their WiFi network, installing a PoE switch and a new router, relocating the existing WiFi access points, and adding in some additional points to ensure maximum WiFi coverage and ensuring flying high speeds throughout the home.

Now that the rack was in order, and the WiFi network was rock solid, we could start working our way through the other issues, starting with the picture and audio signal problems being experienced in a number of rooms in the house.

Audio Visual

Systematically working our way through their entire AV system, we made various improvements and adjustments to settings and swapped out components to improve the quality of the acoustics.

Once we were happy with the quality of the sound and visuals we downloaded all our clients’ favorite apps and logged in for them – so when they wanted to watch TV, all they had to do was push a single button.

Home Theater

The client let us know that they had a projector on backorder for quite some time, due to the ongoing chip shortage. We switched brands, upgraded their model slightly and were able to source and install a Sony Native 4K projector in their theater almost immediately.

While rewiring the home network rack, we had noticed that the two subwoofers in the theater had no amplifier to drive them. We added a two channel amp to fire those bad boys up and then configured and meticulously calibrated their powerful 7.2 surround sound with multiple video and audio sources including the receiver, the projector and SONOS music – all controlled by a universal Pro Control remote.

Cell Phone Booster

Many homes have problems with consistent cell phone signal, we addressed this for our clients by installing a cell phone booster and they were delighted to be able to make phone calls without losing connection.

Outdoor Enterainment Area

The final issue to address was the audio for the outdoor entertainment area.

We found that the speaker cables were badly corroded as our clients’ property is so close to the ocean. To combat corrosion, we installed outdoor specific cable which is more suitable for harsh, outdoor, coastal conditions.

Happy Days

Not only was the home network now working to its full potential, the party was a great success! We heard that the kids really enjoyed the new theater and loved the music throughout the home and especially out by the pool… and their parents loved the fact that the Wi-Fi and cell phone signal were operating efficiently.
